5 Negative Health Effects Caused by Smoking

Through our journey from childhood to adulthood, we have all been told that smoking is bad for our health. That did not stop some people from turning smokers despite the clear dangers associated with it. People smoke different substances including tobacco and marijuana. 

Why you should actually quit smoking.

Smokers endure life-threatening health conditions during their lifetimes some eventually die because of it. The warning is there for all to see even on cigarette packs "All Smokers Are Liable To Die Young", yet people still turn a blind eye while killing their body slowly.

In this article, I am going to consider some life-threatening health conditions caused by smoking.

Cancer of the Lungs

The effects of cancer on a person's life are terrible. It takes away a normal life and also family members are affected. The person will not be able to live a normal life and may eventually die as a result. The substances smoked are bad for the lungs' health. Lung cancer has caused a significant number of deaths among smokers. If one continues to smoke it is almost certain that one will suffer from cancer of the lungs in the future.

Cardiovascular Damage

After smoking for some time, the cardiovascular system will be damaged. Some substances smoked contain nicotine which makes blood vessels to tighten hindering the free flow of blood to all parts of the body. Smoking can also cause stroke when the cardiovascular system has been damaged to an extent.

Worsens Health Conditions

There are different health conditions in which smoking will only worsen the condition. Examples are asthma and high blood pressure. People around smokers are also at risk as they inhale the smoke that comes from the substance, it is also as dangerous as it is to the smokers. If you don't smoke you should avoid staying around smokers as you are also putting your health in danger when you're around them.

Risk of having Digestive tracts Cancer

Smoking is one of the major causes of the throat, mouth, larynx and esophagus cancer. Smoking can also cause type 2 diabetes due to its effect on insulin which can cause insulin resistance.

Affects the nails and skin

Nail infection is common with smokers, this is when a fungal infection caused by smoking affects the nail and can cause discoloration to the nail or damage the nail. It also causes discoloration of the skin.

CONCLUSION
A lot of smokers realize the bad effects of smoking and try to quit the bad habit even though it is not easy.

Joining a group of people with the same goal can really help and also your doctor should be able to help too. When you are truly determined to quit you will find away.
