We all know that when it comes to food, organic products are better for us, but do we have the same approach towards our skin? Each year more people are adopting a new attitude towards natural ingredients for their skincare. Organic ingredients are now at the forefront of the skincare and beauty industry. It is easier than ever to find organic beauty ingredients that will fit your need.

Connect with nature by adding one of its many ingredients to your daily routine. The simple natural ingredients might be as effective as scientifically engineered ones. There are numerous skin bleaching products in the market which use mercury and hydroquinone as their main lightening ingredients, which have proven to be harmful to the skin. Most skin lightening or toning creams sold in stores are made of harmful chemicals that are dangerous to our skin and overall health.

Organic skincare products are not harsh on the skin rather they are good for our skin and health. The largest breathing organ is the skin. About 60% of what we apply on our skin gets absorbed into our bloodstream which circulates in the body. Imagine absorbing harmful chemicals from non-organic skincare products into your bloodstream.

Organic skin products are the best to use for skin toning because they absorb damaging UV rays from the sun and also inhibit melanin production in the skin which is responsible for dark pigmentation. These organic skin ingredients can give you the complexion you desire. When buying organic skincare products, look out for the following ingredients:

1. Phyllanthus Emblica (Indian Gooseberry).

Extract gotten from this plant contains antioxidants which is very rich in Vitamin C and has anti-microbial properties. The Emblical extract reduces hyperpigmentation, wrinkles and protects the skin from sun damage.

2. Citrus Extracts

It contains vitamin C which helps to produce collagen fibers that keep the skin fair. Orange peels and lemon juice are natural skin lightening agents.

4. Vitamin B3 (Niacinamide)

Vitamin B3 or Niacinamide reduces melanin production and is very effective in lightening the skin. It helps the skin retain moisture and gives it a smoother finer look.

5. White Mulberry Extract

The white Mulberry tree is a tree in China which has several health benefits. Aside from whitening the skin, it prevents diabetes, heart diseases and cholesterol. The extract of white Mulberry inhibits the enzyme called “tyrosinase”. This enzyme is known for causing the production of melanin in the skin.

Organic oils for skin-toning ingredients

2. Carrot seed oil - The carrot seed oil inhibits the tyrosinase enzyme. It is very good for skin lightening.
3. Rose oil- This is best used on non-sensitive skin. It lightens the skin and eradicates wrinkles and scars.
4. Eucalyptus oil- This oil not only lightens the skin, it protects and treats the skin from inflammation, sunburn and other damages.
5. Lavender oil - The lavender oil has a soothing effect. It treats pigmentation and scars. It is best used at night because it can make the skin greasy during the day, thereby attracting dust.

NOTE
Do not apply any of these ingredients on your skin in their pure form. Look out for organic skincare products that contain these ingredients to achieve the light complexion you desire. Also, if you decide to apply any of the oil on your skin, please mix with water or a cream, to avoid skin irritation. Until then, take care of yourself.
