Skin tags: Causes and Treatment

I'm sure by now you do know that it's possible to get rid of skin tags. That's great news as a lot of people find it quite irritating and uncomfortable.

But what are skin tags by the way? Quite different from moles and warts, skin tags are small pieces of skin that protrude on the surface of the skin. there are harmless skin growth or perhaps tumors that are not dangerous if left untreated.

CAUSES OF SKIN TAGS

Experts believe that skin tags form as a result of the skin rubbing against each other. maybe this is why skin tags are very common with overweight individuals- due to the friction from their larger skin.

However, I disagree because not only can skin tags be found in moderate-weight individuals, they can also be found virtually anywhere on the body surface.

Skin tags invariably occur at different sites like the face, neck, armpits, and oddly enough in the external genitals for women and the penis or scrotum for men. And while you can get rid of the current skin tags on your skin, this does not guarantee that there won't be new growth.

HOW TO REMOVE SKIN TAGS

You really don't have to do anything about them but if you find them bothersome or perhaps too much for your liking, you could take a step towards getting them removed.

Do not attempt to remove skin tags by yourself. You may cause bleeding, scarring, or get infected while trying to do so. But there are some ways to get rid of skin tags without experiencing any of the above.

You may need to visit a dermatologist, doctor, or beautician to get it professionally removed. But if you may ask if skin tags can be removed naturally, the answer is yes! Below are a few home remedies on how to remove them naturally.

GARLIC

Apply crushed garlic over the tag, and then cover the area with a bandage overnight. Wash the area in the morning. Repeat until the skin tag shrinks and disappears.

APPLE CIDER VINEGAR

People who try this often soak a cotton ball in the vinegar and affix it to the tag with a bandage for 10 minutes, two or three times a day, until the tag falls away. But you need to watch out for skin irritation and stop using it if any signs of a reaction occur because Apple cider vinegar is very acidic and can cause chemical burns. Do not use it near the eyes.

GINGER

Using a gentle soap, thoroughly clean the area around the skin tag and pat it dry. Rub a slice of raw ginger on the skin tag for about a minute. Do not rinse the juice off your skin as this will help remove the skin tag in a few days. Repeat this process daily for the best results.

VITAMIN E

Vitamin E is an antioxidant. When you apply liquid vitamin E to a skin tag, it may help the growth disappear in a few days.

TEA TREE OIL

Tea tree oil has antifungal and antiviral properties and is safe for your skin. Apply tea tree oil to a skin tag and cover it with a bandage. Repeat nightly until the skin tag dries out and falls off.

So these are a few of the simple home remedies you can try on the skin tag before you consider a beauty therapist's visit.

Until then take care of yourself.
