Every man or woman's desire is to look attractive. Most times the foods we consume affect our looks. For some, it could be overweight, for others, it could be belly fat. In this article, we will see some of the best foods you should consume in order to have a flat stomach.

Green tea helps to burn fat and also boosts metabolism. Drink it at least thrice every week.


LEGUMES


Which food is considered a legume? 

A legume refers to any plant family that include its leaves, stems, and pods. A pulse is the edible seed from a legume plant. Pulses include beans, lentils, and peas. For example, a pea pod is a legume, but the pea inside the pod is the pulse.


Legumes can be summarized as groundnuts, African breadfruit, African yam bean, cowpeas, red beans and so on.


Legumes contain vitamin B, potassium, protein, iron, etc. It stabilizes blood sugar levels and keeps you full for a longer time which helps to avoid overeating. It is a great source of fiber.

SALMON
Salmon contains Omega-3 fatty acids, which is a very essential nutrient for our health. It promotes fat burning by boosting the metabolism of the body.

BERRIES
Berries contain antioxidants and fiber. It is very healthy and aids in limiting excessive belly fat.

QUINOA
Quinoa contains fiber and protein. It is a whole grain that helps keep your stomach flatter.

GRAPEFRUIT
Grapefruit contains Vitamin C which helps in reducing cholesterol. Due to its acidity which may slow digestion, you will remain fuller for a longer time after consumption.

Foods to avoid totally or reduce for a flatter belly

RED MEAT
Although red meat contains vitamins and other vital minerals, too much red meat can cause weight gain and a bloated stomach. Red meat contains a high level of sodium which can cause water retention or bloat.
Eat smaller portions of red meat if you want to have a flat stomach.

CORN
Corn is a fattening food, it contains a great level of calories and sugar. Fructose from corn contributes to visceral fat which causes weight gain and stores fat around the liver thereby causing a bloated stomach.
Eat only small amounts of corn. It is also advisable to eat it with other protein or fatty food in order to reduce the glycolic effect.

REFINED SUGAR
Sugar has no calories and is also not nutritious. Studies have shown that sugar causes weight gain, obesity and several other health problems.
Avoid excessive intake of sugar.

REFINED GRAINS
White rice, White bread, etc. Are refined grains whose nutritional value has been reduced. They increase the blood sugar level in the body thereby increasing the body's capacity to accumulate fat, especially around the stomach. Consume whole grains instead of refined grains.
